Sportsmanship Assignment

Number 1. Definition of Sportsmanship. I feel that the definition of sportsmanship is accepting failure, playing fair, working together, and being respectful to other teammates. Another thing that is important is following the rules of the game, and being responsible for your actions. Additionally, individuals must treat others the way they would like to be treated. To conclude, in any football, basketball game etc. individuals must respect the referees.

Number 2.  You should demonstrate sportsmanship in all sports because it makes you feel better, and your teammates will be more respectful towards you because they know you are not a cheater, play by the rules, and respect all teammates and referees.

Number 3. I think that I demonstrate good sportsmanship by trying as hard as I can, playing fair, encouraging my teammates, etc.

This is good because it shows people being kind to support other people even if they are on the opposing team.

Placebo Effect - What is it?

What is the Placebo Effect?

The placebo effect is the improvement of a patient’s health when using placebos. A placebo is a medicine prescribed for the psychological benefit of a patient. During a clinical trial, some patients receive the medicine, but others receive a placebo. All patients believe that they are receiving the real medicine, which makes them have a positive attitude.  As a result, some of them are more cautious of their diet, doing exercise, or other factors like quitting smoking during the clinical trial. Doctors use the placebo effect to test medicine and to see if it actually works, or it is just the mental attitude and food/hygiene changes that occur to the patients during a clinical trial. Some reasons why people volunteer for the clinical trials is because in the past they have performed these experiments on people in jail, and they have said that if they volunteer, they will be let out of jail.

Music Festival Week

I feel that we did a good job at the concert. I was amazed at how good the intermediate band students did in 6th/7th/8th grade. I really liked how in the intermediate band they had some people going at different times. While Mr. Mumford was here, I learned some new words including tonguing and subdivision.
